New Passivhaus, Somerset

Entirely of timber construction, this super-insulated, energy- efficient house and its interiors were inspired by holidays to Switzerland and the Tyrol. The oak-clad interior spaces are in some places low and cosy, and in others airy and high - with big windows taking in wide views of the surrounding Somerset levels. Energy efficient lighting throughout is achieved with LED and compact fluorescent fittings. Interior joinery is mainly of solid oak and plywood, floors are oak or the local blue lias stone, and furnishings are wool, linen and cotton.  Natural materials here create a homely feeling of warmth and a direct connection with the natural world outside.
